Thank you for sharing this. Under the layers of life we do find ourselves again. What beautiful encouragement you’ve given, through this practice, to allow that discovery. Wonderful post Monika. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words Alegria. I’m genuinely so honoured when people take the time not just to read my work, but then feel moved to comment. I’m thrilled you enjoyed it. Finding ourselves under the layers is slow work, but essential.
Great post, Monika! I love those other tools too, and I do think they can be helpful.
But to me, they mostly point us toward our personality, patterns, and energetic qualities — and those things still aren’t the deepest truth of who we are.
Who we are beneath all the roles, labels, and stories is much deeper, more expansive, interconnected and sacred.
I agree with you that svadhyaya takes us to that deeper place that no outside tool can fully reach.
Thank you, Katie! Yes, exactly this. The personality-level stuff is real and genuinely useful, but it's still a layer. I love your description of svadhyaya pointing towards something more “expansive, interconnected and sacred.” That's exactly how it feels - the territory no system can map, however sophisticated. Glad it resonated. 🙏
I really loved this. It's a thoughtful, nuanced reflection of what drives self-awareness. It's the consciousness, soul, wisdom and bruises of actually living your life.
I have a client who is a twin, same exact charts, but they are polar opposites. Different soul, different personality. How they interpret and live out the design is therefore going to differ.
These systems serve to the degree in which we use them, and how we use them depends on where our consciousness is on the continuum of self-awareness, willingness to not only acknowledge the patterning but choose to change when deemed necessary.
Here's my perspective and where I'm at with it...
All of these design systems serve as a tool not a replacement for self-study. They simply provide a well-lit room to walk into to do the deeper work.
When people use these systems as a way to explain away poor behaviour or tendencies, or as an excuse to NOT do the inner work, they miss the point. It makes those systems look like surface level self-help the way they use them.
I, however, have loved using them and have learned so much through the lens of each.
Even after 20+ years of being in the field of transformation, being a psychic specialising in purpose and potential, and deeply unpacking my own healing spiral, I have found so much enrichment and added depth through implementing the study of these 3 systems. It honestly floors me how much.
As a related aside, this article is very aligned with your Scorpio rising, ha! As a Scorpio sun though, I relate. :-)
Thank you so much Vanessa - this is such a thoughtful response, and the twin client example is fascinating. Same chart, different soul. So these tools are a definition, but open to interpretation?
I love your image of the well-lit room. That feels exactly right to me - these tools can illuminate the space, but you still have to be willing to walk in and look at what's there. I was talking to someone else about them, perhaps they also offer an entry point or gateway to the work of self-knowledge.
Which leads me to your point about where someone is on the continuum of self-awareness - something I didn't address directly in the piece, and perhaps would have done if it were a longer piece (although they are not my area of expertise). The same framework genuinely does serve differently depending on what someone is willing to bring to it - which might be why the same system can look like deep practice in one person's hands and a sophisticated avoidance strategy in another's.
And yes - Scorpio rising fully owns this piece. Guilty as charged. 🙃

It was a pleasure to read.

This is a beautiful reflection, thank you.
Thank you Elizabeth, i’m so pleased it resonated. 🙏

Thank you so very much for the restack Marie! 🪶 🤍
I agree, you actually have to do the work. Perhaps the other frameworks offer starting points or a way in though? I don’t know…
